| Using awareness, advocacy and action, Soroptimists identify the special needs within their communities and the world. Soroptimists promote human rights and the status of women through legislative advocacy. Soroptimists are concerned with effecting change at national and international levels to improve the quality of life for people throughout the world. Women's Opportunity Award

An award established in 1972 by Soroptimist International of the Americas to aid mature women who enter or re-enter the job market, or to further her skills and training to upgrade her employment status. The award begins at the club level, with club winners becoming eligible for district and regional awards. Eligibility is determined by application. The guidelines include showing that she is motivated to improve her skills; she is a head of household or has a family financially dependent on her; she clearly indicates that specific educational training is necessary for her entry or re-entry into the labor market; she has financial needs and she has either entered a vocational or technical training program or is completing an undergraduate degree. Deadline for submission of the application to a club is December 15th.

Founder Region Fellowship, Inc., is a foundation within Founder Region, Soroptimist International. Fellowships and Grants-in-aid totaling up to $25,000.00 are offered to women in the last year of their doctoral studies at institutions within the bounds of Founder Region.
