Soroptimism Is Truly International
The events of September 11 have not only been felt by the United States, but by the rest of the world as well. It is at time such as these, our "internationality" truly is understood by our membership. We Soroptimists have received messages of support and encouragement from Soroptimist International federations, regions, clubs, and members everywhere. Following are excerpts from a message from our Soroptimist International President:
The grief and sorrow that all Soroptimists in the world now feel together in the face of the totally inconceivable acts of terrorism in New York and Washington, DC on September 11th, 2001, are extremely deep.
With tears in our eyes and sadness in our hearts we must unite our thoughts and forces to combat the evil spirits, crime and terrorism.
Our whole membership is hoping and praying for our Soroptimist Friends, their families and friends in New York, Washington and areas nearby, to have the strength to cope with the situation.. May our friendship from all over the world give them strength to help people in need in this tragic situation.
As in the past, when free nations realize the oncoming threat, they get united, fight back and win. We need a lot of strength, courage and sense of common duty. As Soroptimists, we have these all.
