Got PR?
Carol Stein, Region Public Relations Committee Member

Public Relations is more than getting an article into your local paper. Good public relations is an overall plan to assist you in making your club visible to your community and to find ways of sharing your projects with others in your community. Since we all know that everybody loves a winner, we need to show our communities that we are winners -- both to assist in our fundraising efforts and to attract new members.

Have PR Presentation -- Will Travel
Contact your district's Public Relations Committee member and have her come to your club to give a super talk, a workshop, or just help you plan a project. Committee members want to visit every club in our districts.

Blow Your Horn -- Public Relations Contest
Information in the November mailing will tell you about the 2001-2002 PR contest. Start saving your press clippings and other items for your entry. First prize will be a 35 mm camera for your club and second prize will be two SIA videos.

The contest is open to all clubs and covers the period from July 1, 2001 to April 1, 2002. Points will be given for such things as business cards and brochures about your club, logo items, newsletters, listings in the telephone book and local Chamber of Commerce, letters to the editor, posters and flyers, public service announcements on radio and television, and the presentation of the material.

Want a Web Site?
We can send you a copy of the PRogress (now out of print) which gives you good concrete information on the procedures for starting your club's web site. Send an e-mail to for a copy. Be sure to send your mailing address.

We Need Your E-mail Address.
Governor Carol would like each club to provide a permanent e-mail contact so that we can have quick communication between clubs. Send your address to . This needs to be a permanent address and not one that changes every year. This will enable us to make contacts and send announcements with the touch of a key. We hope to link the whole region by e-mail.
