The Violet Richardson Award Committee Wants You . . . To Participate
New applications are available for the Violet Richardson Award this year, so be sure to order the new ones. The essay portion has been changed. Distribute the applications in your town. Have you thought of the high schools, hospitals, senior care facilities, churches, Boys and Girls Club, Girl Scouts, city and county offices and volunteer organizations?
The deadline for applications to be returned to the clubs is December 1, 2001. Club winners are due to the District Chair by January 15, 2002. Consider a monetary donation to the club winner and her volunteer organization.
The Region winner will be announced Region Conference in May, 2002.
Your Violet Richardson Award committee is proposing an amendment to the Region By-laws to add a monetary award at District level. Watch for the details in the Region November mailing.
If your club did not participate in the first year of this award, think about it this year. It is a great reward and good public relations for your club. The enthusiasm in one city may be the beginning of a new S Club and it is a great way to find prospective new members.
