FounderLink
Soroptimists Soar We've now completed our first volume of your online newsletter, and it truly has been a learning experience for all of us. First of all, thanks go from all of the members of Founder Region to Governor Carol Rose who wanted this newsletter and prodded the Public Relations Committee, headed by Elaine Reed, to publish it. Secondly, your editor (being a print-based person) learned a whole lot about working with a Webmaster. Thank you so very much, Webmaster Diane Allen, for being such a patient teacher and guiding me through this experience. None of this has been easy for her, especially considering that she moved from Hawaii to the mainland during the production of our first issue. Thirdly, thanks go to all of the Founder Region officers and members who submitted articles for publication. We are doing so well with submissions now that not everything can be included. We are trying to give a good overview of what Founder Region clubs and committees are accomplishing. Lastly, thanks to all of you who check out FounderLink. Our purpose is to open communication within Founder Region with the least amount of expense. Judging from the e-mails we have received, we think this has been done. As the editor, this has been an "on the job" learning experience for me, and hopefully, next year will work even smoothly. Those of you who write and who use e-mail will know the frustrations which ensue when a download won't download, or when it does, it looks like something sent by a space alien. Sending out e-mail to members only to have it returned as undeliverable is another frustration. You will understand that trying to cut and paste becomes more and more interesting with the variety of programs used, as well as differences in type faces and font sizes. And of course, you all know the vagaries of spell checking programs. Over the next few months, a year-long plan will be developed for submission of articles, due dates, and dates of publication. Certain restrictions will be made on length of articles and how many pages we will be including. Hopefully, this will be completed before the date of the Leadership Retreat in June. Style and submission guidelines should be available by then. Thanks for a great first year. |
